Printing files with the PrintBox

The PrintBox is a component that prints printable files that are sent to it. The front of the component shows which printer will print the files. If the "Use the PRINT button" checkbox is checked, the files to be printed can be checked before printing them. The PrintBox can print multiple copies of documents on the printer of your choice. After printing, the PrintBox resets the computer's or networks printer settings to their default values.

Clicking the "Set Options" button displays this settings form, which allows easy configuration of the print job.

The PrintBox can be set to:

  • Choose the font
  • Select the printer to use
  • Set the page orientation
  • Set the number of copies
If you wanted to change the printer to print out one or more documents, say from the context menu in Windows Explorer, you would need to change the default printer, set the number of copies and font etc just for that print job and, when the print job was finished, you'd have to set them back to what they were before. Otherwise, other users could print to the wrong printer or in the wrong format. With the PrintBox, you save the configuration, and it's used whenever you need it. The PrintBox prints what you want, the way you want it and then returns the printer to its original settings. That could save a lot of time if you have to print out a bunch of documents every day.

How to find the files to print

If you want to print the files in one folder, say the one where you save letters, just save the PrintBox in that folder.

If you only want to print files altered today, or containing certain phrases, you can connect a simple Drawganizer component called a DateBox or a TextBox in front of it and only those files will be printed.

Maybe there are some documents that you edit regularly and need to print them out together, say, once a month. You can just group the documents together with a FilesBox in front of the PrintBox.

In all cases, you can save the print job as a shortcut on you Desktop, using a Drawganizer built-in command, or save it on the Start Menu.

Drawganizer can do much more than print files easily from anywhere, but even if you only need it for that purpose, it's still well worth having. Click here for a 30 day free trial.
